so much to say, so little time
Jun. 24th, 2003 06:57 pmso i will make this a short bullet pointed list and maybe elaborate on some other day off:
- Happy summer to everyone. :) I hope the solstice was lovely for all who celebrated. Here in NJ it just rained all day and got dark early. Harumph. so much for my magical mojo. Although I did take the day off as a religious holiday, causing all sort of raised eyebrows and nervous questions. that was...fun. Especially the "so....what... uhm...religion are you, exactly...?" one. I had to assure the sous chef I wasn't going to cast spells on him (or for him), and calmed down many of my Catholic Puerto Rican co-workers by explaining that I'm not an eeevile sorceress, but my religion is sort of akin to Santeria (something they seemed to understand and respect), the closest cultural relation i could think of... then they wanted to regale me with stories of family members who do card readings and spirit healings, and were surprised when I was not surprised and listened with actual belief registering on my face... They nervously wanted to know if I did voodoo, because that was forbidden, apparently black magic, whereas Santeria to them was normal and accepted 'white' magic... ahhh, this job teaches me more every day.

In fact, any friends who read this, if I didn't get your number or address in the last 2 months, could you please re-send them if you get a chance?
- I have no 'net access (am at a cyber cafe right now) and my phone only works about as well as an empty lighter. I would throw it out the window in fury, but it's the only phone link to the outside world my roommate and i have right now. Will be acquiring a new one soon, just gotta get a few more paychecks under my belt first.
- I work a lot. So if you email me or call me and I don't get back to you right away, I will-- but I only get to use a computer about once a week right now. (rrg.)
- Love you all! miss you. I am thinking about trying to stay closer to Dallas, jobwise next summer. Or maybe Austin. I miss my family, blood and otherwise. *tiny sigh*
