question for Ye Old Skool Dallas Goths:
so, I've been listening to this song that is both creepy and addicting, and I don't know who it's by.
the main refrain is done by a male singer with a whispery/british accented voice, and it goes something like, "break the cage of/ desolation/ get yourself some/ dom-i-nation"...

it's on this mix cd that's supposedly a rip of some of the original DJ sets from the early days of The Church (I'm talking like, approx. 10 years ago...)

The track on the CD is actually a mix that begins with Concrete Blond's "The Vampire Song", then this Dom-i-nation song, then finishes up with Peter Murphy's "Socrates The Python".

sound familiar? Any ideas what this song is/ who the artist is? A google search for the lyrics turned up nothing for me.

I think that is "One" by BiGod 20.

(Also, probably a remix of it.)

Damn, Cole, you are so good. that is it, exactly.
on further searching, I found the version I'm listening to is the Jack Dangers full on mix. thanks.
*bows to your obvious superiority*

Yeah. Definitly BiGod20. I know exactly what CD you're referring to as well. It also had the original Goth line dance, Nemesis by Shriekback! Ah, good times, good times. Was that really the early days of the Church? God, that makes me feel soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo oooooooooooooooooooooold.

yeah, that's it!
my new friend Jason, a dallas-turned-vegas dude, and I met here/bonded over the fact that we used to go churching back in "the day". Actually, I think he'd already left dallas by the time I ever found the church. Still. He just made me copies of these CDs he had from back then. Most of it makes me wince with nostalgia, but some of them are new to me, I guess, because the goth people I knew in dallas had already been doing the church thing for a while before I even came on the scene, and that was like...damn, around 7 or 8 years ago.
Now I feel old too. *sigh*

Hmmmm. I wonder if I knew him. I did know some Jasons, and he could have gone by "Raven" or "Metastopheles" or something. heeheehee. Damn. It is Thursday, isn't it...

well, he doesn't seem to do the nickname thing. if you knew him, i think he probably would have told you his name was jason, and for you to just call him that. I don't know if it was always like that with him, or if he's just so over nicknames now that he's painfully against it, but i suspect he's always sort of looked down on the "ravens" and the "metastopheleses", hehe.

Well that's good to know. The last time I was out I met a Razor Blade and I tried really hard not to laugh, I swear. Goths are very sensitive about that sort of thing nowadays...But yes. I did know several Jasons. That would be funny if I knew him.

The only BiGod20 in my heart is "The Bog", "Carpe Diem" and "Like A Prayer". And now I need to find those for my mp3 collection....

ahh, "Like a Prayer".
Nothing like a remix of a great Madonna song sung by a guy who sounds like the EmCee from Cabaret on demonic steroids.

I also have a soft spot for Revolting Cocks' cover of "Do Ya Think I'm Sexy?"

Turns out I need to find "Carpe Diem" as I have the other two as mp3s already.

Hey!!!

I am leaning towards a Gothity Goodness theme (oldy but goody) for CUSPALOOZA this Summer.... "Mad Hatter Tea Party"... any chance I can beg & plead for Good Goth Music. ~anything~ would be happily accepted and drooled over.

I have practically none. :~(

actually, [livejournal.com profile] cluegirl and [livejournal.com profile] firestarter333 would probably be better people to ask about the gothy music mix thing. Their collections far outstrip mine.

I see firestarter often (play magic cards with him), but it took me months to secure "Tophats & Trenchcoats from him.... I've hardly met Cluegirl, but love her LJ. Wasn't sure if she would send me great gothity goodness or not...
