Bad (i'll get them out of the way first):
-getting 3 hours sleep sunday night, and no sleep last night at all.
-failing my corporate finance exam. (yep, 'fraid so. My saving grace is that he drops our lowest grade. Today will definitely be it.)
-being forced to stay awake till late tonight due to lab, group meetings, and the HR exam tomorrow I haven't gotten to study for yet because the textbooks are still checked out.
-waiting around mindlessly for a reserve-textbook to come back into the library.

Good:
Homemade Brunch in Lab today! Including:
-Orange poppy-seed muffins
-Mushroom-leek & Cheddar quiche
-Strawberry Spinach-Onion side salad with poppyseed viniagrette
-Cinnamon Waffles with warm maple syrup and fresh homemade whipped cream
-Having flown by the seat of my pants to make this menu all come together with no set required recipes
-Having a Lab partner who works well with me
-Having the TA who doesn't like me be impressed with my food
-Having Chef (TM) be impressed with even my leftover food, and offer me a job on the spot, even hinting that he might be willing to make schedule adjustments for me.
I am so going to be a TA for this class next Term. I think.

Hahahah... people could not stop eating my muffins! After lab they were following me and my box around, trolling for my muffiny goodness. And now, generous fool that I am, I have no muffins left. *pout*

uhhh...*blush* get your mind out of the gutter, you know what I meant.

mmm. Muffins make everything better. Even the word "muffin" is fun to say out loud. Try it.
See?
*silly grin*

Wow. sleep-deprived giddyness is a wonderous thing.

You've got to expound. Who is this Chef (TM)? Where is s/he Chef (TM) of? Is it a serious job offer, or just playing around? This is potentially Astounding news, and you just gloss over it?

Glad your muffins were well recieved (you're right, 'muffin' is fun to say) and I'm sorry you haven't had enough sleep. Take care of yourself. You won't learn anything if you're burned out to the point of sickness.

Oh, Chef...Chef is like... equivalent to "Cap'n", and everyone just calls him that.
He's the Executive Chef of the Statler Hotel, and occasionally he wanders over to the school side of things, and I have a few friends who work in the kitchen and I have helped them out with big projects before, and Chef noticed, and likes me, so now he calls me "Texas" and bugs me about working for him whenever I see him. And I always tell him I'd really love to, but I'm too busy with school (which is true), because Statler has a minimum 16-hour per week work requirement. On the other hand, money is tight and I have been considering getting a 3rd job... but i don't think I can realistically swing more than 8, possibly 10 more hours.

So after he tried my muffins and gave me two thumbs up, he was like, "So, Texas, when're you gonna come work for me?" and I said, "well, would you ever consider letting someone work less than 16 hours a week?" and he kinda grinned and said, "well... yeah, if I really like the person..." then as he was walking away he looked over his shoulder and said, "come talk to me about it sometime..."

*shrugs* So there you have it.
Yes, it's a real job offer, but no, it's not really "Astounding" news because, well, I'm a full time student and none of my jobs are ...uhh, that "serious". I don't think any student jobs around here pay more than $9/hr, and most of them realistically pay around $6.50. But it'd be good experience, and I want to do it.
I just don't know if the trade off in sanity and schoolwork is worth it right now.

If you'll have to get a third job anyway, why not? Maybe, if you're lucky, you can parlay your experience into a sous-chef (assistant chef? undercook? I'm unsure of the formal kitchen heirarchy) job somewhere that pays real money.

Maybe you can get him to shorten the nickname to good ol' 'Tex.' I can't imagine any Texan who'd object to being called 'Tex,' particularily if you're in a foreign country or state. Especially New York.

In any event, it feels good to have your work recognized by such an obviously proficient personage. Warm fuzzies (from warm Texas).
